FAQ - Antibody Validation Project

FAQ Antibody Validation Project

The Antibody Validation Project is a modern sampling platform. It gives you the opportunity to develop a complete picture of the products you need, and utilise the data provided by others. It gives you the ability to educate, train and utilise your research tools more effectively. Above all, it gives you time and the opportunity to explore more.

These are a few questions that our customers usually have regarding our Antibody Validation Project.

What is the Antibody Validation Project?

In 2014 when we first setup the Antibody Validation Forum, we also set out to enhance customer access to research antibodies. We wanted to provide a service which would allow our customers access to sample size antibodies and would both benefit them and their peers.

How can I get involved?

You can now order Antibody Validation Project samples directly from our website. Simply register on the website, request, review & receive rewards.

How do I choose the samples?

You can register an account, and use the website search to find the antibodies of interest. We recommend search by the gene symbol for more effective search results. When you arrive on the results page use the "Product Type" filter to refine the search. When you find the product(s) you want, simply add the smallest size (usually 20ul) to the cart and checkout as normal.

How many samples can I trial?

We currently do not have any limit on the number of samples that can be tested, although we recommend ordering 3 in order to receive free shipping. If ordering a smaller quantity please contact our support team through our livechat function below to receive a precise shipping quote for your location.

Why do I have to pay for the samples?

We aim to engage with researchers who are interested in contributing to the research landscape and promoting validation. We charge an initial minimal fee to ensure the survival of the project,  and all funds are returned when your participation is complete.

Do I have to prepay for my order?

Yes. However, UK universities can currently receive samples without payment so long as an official institutional headed Purchase Order is provided with 30-day settlement terms.

How can I pay for my order?

We accept PayPal, Stripe, major payment cards and bank transfer. We do not accept cheques.

How long does it take to get my samples?

Our lead time is one week.

Is this project worldwide?

We deliver antibodies to every continent in the world. We use FEDEX International Priority shipments to ensure the products arrive in perfect conditions.

How much is the shipping fee?

We offer free worldwide shipping for all orders above 99.00 / €123.75 / $153.45, so if you trial 3 or more samples you can also enjoy free shipping.

Is there a time limit to return the results?

Antibody reviews should be submitted within 12-months of purchase in order to receive a refund. However customers who return a full set of results in under 30-days can expect to receive additional rewards.

How do I write a review?

Review forms are found on every product page, and can be filled in online. Alternatively, login to your account and on the right hand side you will find a panel with "My Orders", click to view all your previous orders, and navigate to each purchased antibody to find the product page, where you can write your review. Fill out the information required, upload your image and submit.

Please fill out the information with as much detail as possible, so that your peers can replicate experimental conditions used.

What kind of data is necessary for the review?

The Antibody Validation Project exists to help reproducibility in research, so we ask for all the reviewers to provide as much information as possible. We ask for all protocol information as well as an opinion comment on the antibody suitability for your tested application, as well as an image of the experiment results.

What happens when the samples does not work as expected?

We guarantee a 100% sample refund if products fail to perform as prescribed. This falls in line with the timelines laid out in our standard terms and conditions. Please ensure you return the results of your testing to us within 12 months.

What if I test the antibody in a species different from the product datasheet?

We understand that many researchers would like to test antibodies in applications or species which are not prescribed in the data sheet. We encourage exploration in antibody use, but would recommend that researchers contact our support team first when intending to do so. We will be able to carry out a suitability & homology assessment of the antibody for the required use. You can do this through livechat, or by contacting support@stjohnslabs.com.

What if I test the sample in a different application as recommended?

As above, please contact our support team.

How can I get my refund?

You will receive your refund once you review the samples you have trialed. Usually the process takes a few days for wire transfers, or faster if the original payment was made through PayPal or a payment card.

I have reviewed all the samples. Can I trial more samples?

Yes. There is no limit to the number of times you can take part. This project is ongoing, and we encourage continued participation as we engage with our community of researchers and build our peer discovery platform.
